But now Messiah has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
- 1 Corinthians 15:20
First Fruits is a one day celebration which takes place on the 17th of Nisan during the Feast of
Unleavened Bread and in between the two High Sabbaths. We read about First Fruits in Leviticus 23:9-
11. On this agricultural celebration Israel rejoices in our thankfulness for GOD’s provision of first fruits of
the new harvest after the lifeless winter. We rejoice that on this day Yeshua became the First Fruits of
the Resurrection as we read in 1 Corinthians 15.

“Adonai spoke to Moses saying: ‘Speak to Bnei-Yisrael and tell them: When you have come into the land
which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you are to bring the omer of the first fruits of your harvest
to the kohen. He is to wave the omer before Adonai, to be accepted for you. On the morrow after the
Shabbat, the kohen is to wave it...You are not to eat bread, roasted grain, or fresh grain until this same
day—until you have brought the offering of your God. It is a statute forever throughout your
generations in all your dwellings. Then you are to count from the morrow after the Shabbat, from the
day that you brought the omer of the wave offering, seven complete Shabbatot. Until the morrow after the seventh Shabbat you are to count fifty days, and then present a new grain offering to Adonai. ’”

“For I also passed on to you first of all what I also received—that Messiah died for our sins according to
the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures...But
now Messiah has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since
death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also has come through a Man. For as in Adam
all die, so also in Messiah will all be made alive. But each in its own order: Messiah the first fruits; then,
at His coming, those who belong to Messiah; then the end, when He hands over the kingdom to God the
Father after He has destroyed all rule and all authority and power.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 20-24 TLV
